It depends on the region. The general rule (D.S. 320/1981) runs from the second Friday of November to the first Sunday of May: Fri, November 13, 2026 to Sun, May 2, 2027. Los Ríos opens Fri, October 9, 2026, Aysén Mon, October 12, 2026, Magallanes Fri, October 16, 2026 and Palena province Sun, November 1, 2026.
When does the season open on the Futaleufú and in Palena province?
November 1 (Sun, November 1, 2026), closing on the first Sunday of May (Sun, May 2, 2027), under Res. Ex. 2428/2025 for the 2025-26 to 2028-29 seasons.
When does the season open in Los Lagos (Puelo, Llanquihue)?
In most of Los Lagos, the second Friday of November (Fri, November 13, 2026). The Puelo and Rahue basins close later, on May 31 (Mon, May 31, 2027). Before that there is a catch-and-release-only period on the main stems of the Puelo, Maullín, Rahue and Pilmaiquén and lakes Llanquihue, Rupanco and Puyehue (Fri, September 4, 2026 to Thu, November 12, 2026).
When does the season open in Pucón and La Araucanía?
The second Friday of November (Fri, November 13, 2026) to the first Sunday of May (Sun, May 2, 2027). Chinook salmon in the Toltén and Imperial basins have their own season: Tue, September 15, 2026 to Wed, March 31, 2027.
