Water temperature at the Futaleufú dam: 7.7 °C.
Alto Futaleufú 266 m³/s (9,394 cfs), Futaleufú Medio 328 m³/s (11,583 cfs) and Bajo Futaleufú 343 m³/s (12,113 cfs). Alto is the measured dam release, Medio adds the Río Espolón, and Bajo comes from the DGA gauge above the Malito. The app compares each with a starting-estimate ideal range and gives a 0 to 10 rating.
Lago Espolón level 1.78 m and Lago Yelcho level 4.21 m. These are provisional DGA readings, refreshed hourly.
The report uses hourly and daily Open-Meteo forecasts for Futaleufú, Lago Espolón, Puerto Ramírez, Lago Yelcho and Palena, including barometric pressure. Today's forecast for Futaleufú: 6 to 21 °C (43 to 70 °F), 0.2 mm rain, gusts up to 44 km/h (27 mph) (Open-Meteo).
The Palena province trout season opens November 1, 2026 (in 6 days). The app shows Palena province's rules from the Sernapesca resolution: Upper Río Futaleufú, from the border to the “Sofía” sector: mandatory release of every salmonid, all season. Artificial lures (flies) with barbless hooks only. Landing nets max 100 cm long, 70 cm across. Always confirm with Sernapesca.
Yes. Fish Patagonia can send push notifications to your phone when a water drops into its ideal range, when the season opens, or when flow crosses a threshold you choose, checked every hour. On iPhone you first add the app to your Home Screen.
River flows come from the Chile Water Levels gauges (Hidroeléctrica Futaleufú dam page and DGA Chile provisional real-time stations). Lake levels come from the DGA public real-time map. Weather is from Open-Meteo.com (CC BY 4.0). All readings are provisional and can be missing or late.
Provisional data. Conditions on the water change quickly: scout, check local rules with Sernapesca and use a local guide on big water.
